Summary

ADEC has licence to operate in conservation,The main protagonists are local communities namely ex-poachers as well as partners in wildlife conservation. It will use crowdfunding and its operating budget will be based on raised funds. On annual basis, it will train and disseminate 600 community workers into the population to campaign against forest encroachment. Each community worker will exercise its activities and cover 100 inhabitants. project conceived to extend to national parks of Rwanda.

Challenge

Hitherto the project has not raised sufficient funds to launch its activities and it still wait for partners whose intervention is designed in crowdfunding networks. Fortunately it has partnered with GlobalGiving, a well -experienced organization in crowdfunding. Other main challenge include the low level of education of majority of ex-poachers. This will raise the cost of sensitization of local people. because of poverty, regroup them will require to have both socio-economic incentives.

Solution

The main approach used by ADEC is partnerships with local, national, and international community development workers and wildlife preservation agents. It will learn from experience of its partners. The principal partner is GlobalGiving and this will make it possible to access resourceful partners. The campaigns against encroachment will benefit local community in terms of promoting biodiversity and sustainability. The regrouping of community workers into associations will boost their economy.

Long-Term Impact

The overall goal of ADEC is to secure the future of natural environment. To arrive at this objectives will pass by addressing issues of sustainability which will further biodiversity dimensions and perspectives.The local communities will be trained to cope with everyday life hardships by both skills and socio-economic incentives. There will be positive trade-offs between sustainable environment and healthy local peoples. Thus,long run it will have engendered sustainability and human development.
